A Sloshed Subsitution

by Mackenzie McCain

Going away to college; wouldn’t it be nice?
“Let her go, Allie.”
Sex on the regular and a gold dust woman,
horchata and alcohol on my little black dress.
We’ve got a big mess on our hands. God only knows
we bring us down. Sell my old clothes,
I’m off to heaven. She’s tropical birds and
crooked teeth all at once. A pretty melody,
the only way to my heart… the kids don’t
stand a chance. Touch, tune out, and carry on.
“Everything will be alright.”
From a selfish girl to a diplomat’s son. Friday at
Brian’s (I have to be up in four hours). I’ve clocked out.
